Quality Inspector / Technician - Fabrication & Manufacturing

£33,700 to £35,400 per annum, plus bonus and benefits
Monday to Friday- 40 hours per week

Do you have hands-on quality inspection experience within fabrication or manufacturing?

An established UK manufacturer is creating several new opportunities for experienced Quality Inspectors or Quality Technicians to join its site-based team in the Norwich area.

This position would particularly suit someone with quality experience gained within fabricated building products, windows and doors, plastics, aluminium, joinery, engineering components or another assembly-led manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will inspect fabricated components and finished products, identify defects and non-conformities, investigate recurring issues and work closely with Production teams to improve manufacturing standards.

This is a practical factory-floor role-not a laboratory-based or predominantly administrative quality position.

Essential experience

You must have previous hands-on experience carrying out quality inspections within a manufacturing, fabrication, production or assembly environment.

Applications without relevant manufacturing-quality experience will not be progressed.

What you’ll be doing

• Inspecting components and finished products throughout fabrication, production and assembly
• Checking dimensions, finish, functionality and overall product appearance
• Identifying manufacturing defects, damage, non-conformities and process deviations
• Ensuring products meet specifications, approved procedures and quality standards
• Carrying out final inspections before products are released
• Monitoring repeat defects, repairs, remakes and waste
• Maintaining accurate inspection records and quality documentation
• Working with Production teams to investigate and resolve quality concerns
• Supporting customer-complaint investigations and root cause analysis
• Assisting with corrective and preventive actions
• Contributing to Continuous Improvement, Lean manufacturing and 5S activity

What we’re looking for

You will need:

• Quality inspection, quality control or quality assurance experience within manufacturing
• Experience inspecting fabricated, machined or assembled products
• Confidence using measuring equipment and checking products against specifications
• Experience identifying defects and non-conforming products
• An understanding of manufacturing processes and Standard Operating Procedures
• Strong attention to detail and a right-first-time approach
• The confidence to challenge quality standards constructively
• Good record-keeping and reporting skills
• Strong communication and the ability to work across departments
• A proactive, reliable and safety-conscious approach

Knowledge of ISO 9001, root cause analysis, 5 Whys, Fishbone, corrective and preventive action, Lean manufacturing, 5S or Continuous Improvement would be advantageous.
