Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: Leeds, LS11
Salary: £25,000–£27,000 per year
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Start Date: Immediate

Are you a Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with children in a primary school setting?

We are currently recruiting for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in the LS11 area of Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for a Psychology graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in education, particularly those considering a future career in educational psychology, child psychology, teaching or SEND.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils with their learning, development and wellbeing. You may also provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils who require additional assistance.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils with their learning and development
• Providing 1:1 and small-group interventions
• Helping pupils build confidence and independence
• Supporting children with additional learning, behavioural or SEND needs
• Assisting the class teacher with classroom activities
• Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Helping to create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A degree in Psychology or a related subject
• A genuine passion for working with children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, empathy and a positive approach
• An interest in child development, SEND or educational psychology
• Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential

This role would suit a Psychology Graduate looking to gain valuable practical experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, counselling, SEND or another child-focused career.
