About Transforming Support

At Transforming Support, we support adults with learning disabilities and complex needs to live as independently as possible in their own homes.

Everything begins with the individual. We listen to what matters to each person, recognise their strengths and provide person centred support that helps them make choices, pursue their goals and enjoy an active and fulfilling life within their community.

The role

As a Male Support Worker within our Peterborough supported living service, you will provide consistent, person centred support to an adult with complex needs, helping them enjoy greater choice, control and independence in their everyday life.

This is not about taking over or doing everything for someone. It is about providing the right balance of practical support, reassurance and encouragement, enabling the person you support to do as much as possible for themselves.

Every shift will be shaped by their individual needs, preferences and goals. You could be helping them develop daily living skills, manage their home or finances, attend appointments, look after their health, pursue personal interests or take a more active part in their community.

You will take time to understand what matters to them, build a positive relationship based on trust and provide support that respects their dignity, rights and choices.

It is a varied and responsible role where your patience, reliability and consistency can make a genuine difference.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing respectful, person centred support within the individual’s own home
  • Helping them develop daily living skills and become more independent
  • Supporting them to make informed choices about their life and future
  • Providing support with their tenancy, health, medication and finances
  • Encouraging community involvement, relationships, personal interests, education and employment
  • Contributing to support plans, assessments, reviews and positive risk management
  • Maintaining clear, accurate and objective records
  • Working closely with colleagues and professional teams to provide consistent support

What you’ll need

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least six months’ experience working within a care or support setting
  • Genuinely wants to help another person live a fulfilling and independent life
  • Is compassionate, respectful and committed to promoting choice and dignity
  • Can communicate clearly and confidently with the person supported, colleagues and other professionals
  • Is patient, dependable and able to remain calm when needs or circumstances change
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, equality and confidentiality
  • Can work positively as part of a team
  • Is comfortable maintaining accurate written records
  • Can work the required rolling shift pattern, including alternate weekends

This position is open to male applicants only. Due to the specific needs and care plan of the person supported, being male is an occupational requirement for this role under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010.

You must already have the right to work in the UK, as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

What you’ll get

  • £14.00 per hour
  • Up to £1,000 discretionary bonus
  • 28 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays
  • A structured rolling shift pattern
  • The opportunity to build a genuine and trusted relationship with the person you support
  • Meaningful work where your contribution can lead to greater confidence, choice and independence
  • Fully funded enhanced DBS check
  • Full training and ongoing development
