What you will do
- Oversee and coordinate the process for responding to allegations of abuse made against individuals who work with children within the Local Authority area and associated organisations.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations on managing allegations against staff members.
- Ensure timely resolution of cases in accordance with accepted investigation processes and Local Safeguarding Children Board targets.
- Develop and maintain processes for monitoring and evaluating current practices, including identifying emerging patterns in allegations.
- Foster collaborative efforts with partner agencies to enhance safeguarding practices for children and young people.
- Engage in the development and delivery of multi-agency training programmes to build a robust safeguarding framework.
Planning and Development
- Contribute to the development of child protection strategies across partner agencies.
- Develop local processes and protocols for handling allegations of abuse against individuals working with children.
- Assist partner agencies in developing a skilled workforce for managing allegations and safe recruitment practices.
- Build strong relationships with key agencies involved in safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Management of Allegation Cases
- Collaborate with nominated officers and safeguarding services to efficiently manage allegations.
- Maintain consistency in intervention practices and ensure appropriate representation in strategy meetings.
- Support investigations related to disciplinary matters and ensure referrals to appropriate authorities.
- Offer guidance on criminal investigation outcomes and advise employers on various options.
Management of Communication and Information
- Ensure regular updates and support for children, adults, and families involved in cases.
- Develop and maintain systems for recording decisions and recommendations in allegation management processes.
- Provide advice and guidance to partner agencies and promote best practice sharing.
