This role is ideal for ambitious graduates who want to develop their skills in a structured school setting while making a genuine difference in the classroom.

The Role

As a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the SEN team to support learning, engagement, and progress across a range of subjects and abilities.

You will gradually build experience in classroom practice while helping students develop confidence, independence, and positive learning behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group academic support across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Assist students with additional learning needs, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech and language difficulties.
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons.
  • Adapt learning resources to meet individual student needs.
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
  • Encourage student confidence, resilience, and independence in learning.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Offer pastoral support and act as a positive role model within the school community.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum 2:1 Bachelor’s degree in any subject discipline.
  • Strong academic background and a genuine interest in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, patient, and resilient approach to working with young people.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work) is desirable but not essential.
  • Commitment to a long-term career in education is highly desirable.

Why Join This School?

This Wembley secondary school is known for its inclusive ethos, supportive leadership, and strong commitment to staff development. As a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will benefit from:

  • A highly supportive and welcoming school environment.
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Excellent mentoring from experienced teachers and SEN professionals.
  • Hands-on classroom experience across multiple subjects and year groups.
  • Strong preparation for teacher training routes such as PGCE or School Direct.
  • A positive and collaborative school culture focused on student success.

The Opportunity

You will gain invaluable classroom experience, develop key professional skills, and make a meaningful impact on the academic and personal development of young people.
