A welcoming secondary school in Solihull is seeking a dedicated Graduate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join its support team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical classroom experience while developing your understanding of SEN and supporting students throughout their school day.
What will you be doing?
Working alongside teachers and the SENCO, you'll provide individualised support to students with a variety of additional needs, including autism, ADHD and dyslexia.
You'll help students overcome barriers to learning, build their confidence and develop both academically and personally.
Key responsibilities
As a Graduate LSA, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small-group supportto students with SEN
- Assist teachers with differentiated classroom activities
- Encourage students to stay engaged and participate positively in lessons
- Support students with their social, emotional and communication development
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff
- Monitor student progress and contribute to discussions around their wellbeing
- Help promote a positive, inclusive and supportive classroom environment
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have:
- A strong academic background, ideally a 2:1 degree or above from a leading university
- A genuine passion for working with young people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, resilience and a positive approach
- An interest in SEN and inclusive education
- Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable, but not essential)
You don't need to have worked in a school before. If you're empathetic, enthusiastic and keen to learn, this could be an excellent first step into a career in education.
