Are you a recent graduate who enjoys working with young people and wants to gain valuable experience in a school environment?

Perhaps you're considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology or Special Educational Needs (SEN) and want to develop your practical experience before taking the next step.

 

We are looking for a Graduate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a supportive secondary school in Coventry. This is a fantastic opportunity to work directly with students, develop your understanding of SEN and gain the classroom experience needed to progress within education.

 

What does the role involve?

As a Graduate LSA, you'll work alongside teachers and the SENCO to provide targeted support to students with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD and dyslexia.

You'll help students overcome barriers to learning, develop their confidence and engage positively with both their academic and social development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group supportto students with SEN
  • Supporting teachers with differentiated learning activities
  • Helping students remain focused, engaged and motivated in lessons
  • Encouraging the development of students' social and emotional skills
  • Working closely with teaching staff and the wider support team
  • Monitoring student progress and sharing relevant information about their wellbeing
  • Helping create a positive and inclusive learning environment

 

Who would suit this role?

We're looking for a graduate who is:

  • Educated to degree level, ideally with a 2:1 or above from a leading university
  • Passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve
  • A confident and effective communicator
  • Patient, resilient and approachable
  • Interested in developing a career within education or SEN
  • Experienced in working with children or young people (desirable, but not essential)

You don't need extensive classroom experience - we're looking for someone with the right attitude, empathy and enthusiasm who is keen to learn.
