What you will do

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying risks and implementing strategies for welfare improvement.
  • Provide expert advice to courts on child protection and welfare concerns, ensuring the child’s best interests are represented.
  • Work directly with children and families to facilitate positive outcomes and support during family proceedings.
  • Prepare detailed reports and ongoing recommendations post-initial hearings to guide court decisions.
  • Manage complex cases and sensitive situations with professionalism and composure.
  • Support families in private law cases to focus on the child’s needs and provide safeguarding advice amid disputes.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant Social Work qualification.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in family court proceedings and safeguarding.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and family law.
  • Experience conducting complex assessments and preparing court reports.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads and work effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to promoting the welfare and best interests of children.

WAFH (Work After First Hearing)

Involves work completed after the first hearing, including detailed assessments, direct work with children and families, report writing, and ongoing recommendations to support the court in achieving the best outcomes for the child.

Private Law

Cases involving disputes between parents or carers regarding child arrangements, such as contact or residence. FCA's assess welfare concerns, provide safeguarding advice and support families to remain focused on the child's needs.
