What you will do:

  • Conduct Section 7 and Section 37 reports under the Children Act 1989, delivering evidence-based recommendations to the Family Court.
  • Undertake safeguarding assessments, identifying risks related to domestic abuse, substance misuse, and neglect.
  • Represent Cafcass at court hearings, providing professional advice and oral evidence when required.
  • Engage directly with children to understand and advocate for their wishes and feelings in accordance with statutory guidelines.
  • Collaborate with local authority children's services, police, schools, and health agencies to inform comprehensive case assessments.

Person Specification:

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England is essential.

Registration & Compliance:

  • Up-to-date Social Work England registration.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004 and relevant family justice legislation.
  • A keen understanding of safeguarding frameworks, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and domestic abuse protocols.
  • Familiarity with Family Court processes and the nuances between public and private law.
