Consultant Social Worker – Children in Care (CIC)
Location: Ipswich, Suffolk (Hybrid – 3 days office-based)
Pay Rate: £21.29 per hour (PAYE) | £26.80 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract Type: Temporary
Start Date: 18th May 2026
End Date: 14th August 2026
Hours: 37 hours per week (09:00 – 17:30)

The Role

Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Consultant Social Worker to join a Children in Care (CIC) Team in Ipswich. This is a senior-level position, suited to candidates operating at Senior Practitioner level or above, with strong experience in care proceedings and supervision.

You will play a key role in supporting the Team Manager, ensuring high-quality practice, strong oversight, and effective delivery of services for children in care and those progressing through permanence planning.

Key Responsibilities

Provide professional leadership, guidance, and supervision to Social Workers within the team
Support the Team Manager with oversight of complex cases and service delivery
Undertake direct work with children in care, ensuring their voice and lived experience are central to planning
Complete and review care plans, ensuring they reflect individual needs and long-term outcomes
Prepare high-quality reports for Children in Care reviews and court proceedings
Contribute to care proceedings, including court work and permanence planning
Carry a small caseload where required, particularly for complex or urgent cases
Work collaboratively with carers, families, and multi-agency professionals (e.g. IROs, Guardians, Health, Education)
Support life story work and contribute to the development of life story books
Travel to placements, including rural locations, as required

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker with relevant Social Work qualification
Registered with Social Work England
Significant experience within Children in Care (CIC) teams
Proven experience in care proceedings and court work
Experience supervising or mentoring Social Workers
Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding, and best practice
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Must be working at Senior Practitioner level or above
