What you will do:

  • Independently manage a specialist clinical dietetic caseload, prioritising workload effectively.
  • Undertake comprehensive nutritional and dietetic assessments and accurately calculate patients’ nutritional requirements.
  • Interpret relevant clinical information, including biochemistry, medication, and fluid balance, to inform appropriate care plans.
  • Prescribe nutritional support in accordance with professional standards, local policies, and clinical guidelines.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Attend ward rounds, case conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure nutrition is integrated into holistic patient care.
  • Provide complex dietary counselling and education to patients, families, and carers.
  • Communicate complex nutritional information clearly and sensitively to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive clinical records to support continuity and quality of care.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, research, and service improvement initiatives where appropriate.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of high-quality dietetic services.

Essential requirements:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Dietetics.
  • Current HCPC registration.
  • Experience managing a specialist dietetic caseload.
  • Ability to undertake comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Confidence working autonomously and managing a varied clinical workload.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, communication, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Desirable requirements:

  • Previous experience working within an acute hospital environment.
  • Experience managing medical and surgical caseloads.
  • Experience working with complex nutritional needs.
  • Previous involvement in clinical audits or dietetic service improvement initiatives.
