What you will do

• Undertake specialist Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions for patients with complex physical, cognitive, and discharge needs.

• Manage an autonomous acute inpatient caseload, supporting rehabilitation and hospital patient flow.

• Set rehabilitation goals, evaluate progress, and adapt treatment interventions using appropriate outcome measures.

• Complete complex risk assessments, including moving and handling assessments and safe discharge planning.

• Undertake home assessments to establish suitability for discharge, equipment provision, and property adaptations.

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams, including individuals with communication difficulties or language barriers.

• Liaise with external agencies to coordinate effective discharge planning and continuity of care.

• Provide clinical guidance, supervision, and support to Band 5 Occupational Therapists, rotational Band 6 staff, Therapy Assistants, and students.

• Support the Band 7 Occupational Therapist with service coordination, workload prioritisation, and patient flow, deputising when required.

• Contribute to service development, clinical audits, training programmes, and the development of clinical pathways.
