Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist with a passion for neurological rehabilitation? We have an exciting opportunity for Band 6 Community Occupational Therapists to join the Neurology Team in Newham, London, earning up to £29.52 per hour depending on experience.

This full-time locum position offers an initial 3-month contract and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to adults undergoing neurological rehabilitation within the community. Working across the Neurology and Stroke pathway, you’ll play an important role in supporting early supported discharge and helping patients maximise their independence following neurological illness or injury.

What you will do:

• Independently manage a complex caseload of adults requiring neurological Occupational Therapy.
• Undertake specialist community-based assessments addressing physical, cognitive, perceptual, and sensory impairments.
• Develop and implement personalised rehabilitation programmes based on individual needs, goals, and circumstances.
• Provide specialist assessment and intervention for adults recovering from strokes and other neurological conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments in patients’ homes, community environments, and workplaces where appropriate.
• Recommend and provide specialist equipment and minor adaptations to promote safety, independence, and participation.
• Complete risk assessments and provide clear guidance to patients, families, and carers on the safe use of equipment and adaptations.
• Support vocational rehabilitation interventions, helping individuals work towards meaningful participation and integration within the community.
• Work closely with inpatient stroke teams to facilitate safe and effective transitions between hospital and community services.
• Contribute to early supported discharge pathways and coordinated rehabilitation planning.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including patient records, reports, assessments, and outcome measures.
• Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, person-centred rehabilitation.

Essential requirements:

• Relevant Occupational Therapy qualification.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Previous experience working as an Occupational Therapist within a neurological rehabilitation setting.
• Experience managing complex caseloads independently.
• Strong assessment and intervention skills across physical, cognitive, perceptual, and sensory needs.
• Experience working with adults following stroke or other neurological conditions.
• Ability to undertake community-based assessments, including home and environmental assessments.
• Strong communication, organisation, clinical reasoning, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to promoting independence and delivering person-centred rehabilitation.
