As an Advanced Practitioner, you will support the Team Manager by overseeing complex cases, providing practice leadership, and ensuring high‑quality safeguarding practice across the service. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening frontline safeguarding responses while mentoring less experienced colleagues to drive excellence, consistency, and positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities / What You Will Do

• Manage a protected caseload of complex safeguarding cases involving children at risk of harm.
• Provide expert professional guidance, mentoring, and supervision to social workers.
• Lead and contribute to statutory safeguarding processes, including:
  • Strategy discussions
  • Child protection conferences
  • Multi‑agency meetings
• Conduct and oversee robust assessments in line with the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, and relevant statutory guidance.
• Support the Team Manager in maintaining high practice standards and service performance.
• Ensure accurate, timely recording of case information, decisions, and actions.
• Collaborate effectively with partner agencies such as education, police, health, and voluntary services.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and practice development across the service.

Requirements / Candidate Criteria

Essential

• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work degree or equivalent.
• Registered with Social Work England.
• Significant post‑qualification experience in children’s safeguarding services.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory responsibilities, and best practice guidance.
• Experience managing complex child protection and court‑related cases.
• Ability to mentor, supervise, and support other practitioners.

Desirable

• Previous experience as an Advanced Practitioner or Senior Social Worker.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Experience within a London borough safeguarding team.
