About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join the Cellular Pathology Team at Royal Blackburn Hospital. This full-time, ongoing position offers a competitive hourly rate of £26.00 and provides a fantastic opportunity to develop your expertise in a supportive, well-equipped laboratory environment. Working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with potential weekend work), you’ll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic services that directly impact patient care and outcomes.

What you will do

Perform complex analytical procedures on tissue samples as part of the Cellular Pathology service.

Ensure high standards of accuracy and reliability in test results to support effective patient diagnosis.

Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, adhering to safety and quality standards.

Participate actively in Quality Assurance and Quality Control programmes.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and patient-focused care.

Uphold compliance with all HCPC, UKAS, and laboratory governance requirements.
Essential requirements

HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.

Proven experience in Cellular Pathology or a similar laboratory discipline.

Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills.
