About the Role
An exceptional opportunity awaits for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 5 Prison Cleared Nurse to join the Primary Care Team in Sutton, Surrey. This ongoing role offers flexibility with both part-time and full-time options and a competitive hourly rate of £26.00.
Working within a secure environment, you’ll play a vital part in delivering outstanding nursing care to patients in custody. From managing triage clinics and long-term conditions to responding to medical emergencies, you’ll be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team providing safe, person-centred healthcare that truly makes a difference.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver evidence-based nursing care to meet the physical health needs of prisoners.

Conduct health assessments, manage triage clinics, and screen new arrivals.

Support the management of long-term conditions, wound care, and medication administration.

Work collaboratively with GPs, mental health professionals, and substance misuse teams.

Respond to medical emergencies, providing rapid, effective first-line interventions.

Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and documentation.

Promote health education, prevention, and harm reduction initiatives.

Adhere to prison security and safety procedures at all times.

Engage in clinical supervision and ongoing mandatory training.
Essential Requirements

Registered Nurse (Adult) with active NMC registration.

Valid Prison Clearance (HMP) or eligibility to obtain it.

Post-registration experience in primary care, acute, or custodial settings.

Excellent clinical, communication, and assessment skills.

Strong commitment to patient-centred care and professional standards.

Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
Desirable Skills & Experience

Experience in offender healthcare or forensic environments.

Knowledge of chronic disease management, vaccinations, and minor illness care.

Phlebotomy skills and experience mentoring student nurses.
