What you will do

Carry out comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying risks and strengths to inform intervention plans.

Develop, implement, and review effective child-centred care and protection plans.

Collaborate with families using a relationship-based approach to promote safety and stability.

Undertake Section 17 and Section 47 assessments in line with the Children Act 1989.

Prepare clear, evidence-based reports for court and multi-agency meetings.

Coordinate input from other professionals in child protection conferences and core groups.

Maintain accurate, compliant case records and contribute to reflective team discussions.

Support service improvement by sharing best practice and contributing to team development.
Essential requirements

Qualified Social Worker with registration through Social Work England.

Experience in children’s social care, safeguarding, and family support.

Strong understanding of child development, risk assessment, and relevant legislation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Commitment to equality, inclusion, and anti-discriminatory practice.
Desirable:

Post-qualification experience in statutory children’s services.

Familiarity with care proceedings and trauma-informed approaches.

Knowledge of local services within Cumberland and Cumbria.
