Key Responsibilities

Undertake allocated casework, producing outcome-based plans that balance the needs and risks of children and families.
Build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with children, young people, and families to ensure their voices shape care plans.
Apply evidence-based practice in line with statutory responsibilities and council policies.
Monitor and evaluate personal performance against national standards, participating in regular supervision.
Contribute to auditing processes to uphold the highest standards of practice and record keeping.
Ensure inclusive practice by meeting the needs of service users from all communities, including through translation and interpretation services.
Conduct financial assessments and determine levels of need and service provision where appropriate.
Develop partnerships with a range of agencies, including education, health, police, and voluntary organisations, to deliver joined-up services.
Maintain accurate and timely records using the Integrated Children’s System.
Transition casework effectively to other service areas with clear transfer planning.
Engage in team meetings and service development initiatives to improve delivery and outcomes.
Identify personal learning needs and utilise supervision for continuous professional development.
Provide cover and support for team members as required, contributing to a collaborative team culture.

Essential Requirements

Qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Work England).
Proven experience within assessment, intervention, or child protection services.
Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and related statutory frameworks.
Excellent communication, analytical, and organisational skills.
Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and equality of opportunity.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.
