Key Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Solicitor in delivering efficient and effective legal services to the Council.

• Conduct legal research and provide sound advice on local government law and childcare-related matters.

• Prepare and manage legal proceedings, including drafting applications, reports, and relevant documentation.

• Attend court hearings and meetings, ensuring proper conduct and representation by the local authority.

• Handle a caseload of childcare and protection cases under supervision, ensuring compliance with all legal standards.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of childcare legislation, local authority law, and practice management standards.

• Provide advocacy on behalf of the local authority and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

• Maintain accurate records, monitor legal developments, and assist in drafting briefing notes or policy updates.
