Lead Hv Substation Engineer in Glasgow

Our Client has a requirement for a Lead HV Substation Engineer, who will be required to work on a 12 month contract in Glasgow.

Roles and Responsibilities

These are typical substation design work we do all over the country from FEED / Development phase to Detailed Design:

  • Provide Leadership on the FEED and detail design workstream.
  • Ensure adequate quality assurance and delivery of FEED, Detailed design and bids for SSEN, NGET and DNOs.
  • Ensure adequate resources and training of resources for the purposes of delivering FEED and detailed design work.
  • Review the HV plant aspects of different projects including HV layouts, earthing design and reports, mechanical interlocking, HV busbar calculations and technical specification for the HV plant equipment.
  • Coordination with back-office engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers as required.
  • Proven record of ability to manage tender packages as tender manager and doing HV plant aspects of technical offers.
  • Ability to attend and chair the design review and Hazard review meetings and reviewing HV plant design packages as required.
  • Attending site visits, FAT and SAT as required.
  • Strong communication skills along with teamworking attributes.
  • Customer focused when dealing with customers, identifying their needs along with business development skills.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline and Chartered Engineer status with a relevant institution or working towards chartered status
  • Minimum 8 years of experience within an electrical discipline and experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary projects, minimum 5 years of experience in UK working on National Grid or SSEN Transmission projects.
  • Relevant, professional experience in HV and LV experience and knowledge of Substations/ Primary Plant 132kV, 275kV, 400kV - Experience preparing design calculations, reports, and detailed drawings.
  • Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills to manage teams and projects effectively.
