A friendly and inclusive primary school in Birmingham is seeking a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This role is ideal for graduates looking to gain practical experience working with children with diverse needs—including autism, ADHD, and speech or communication challenges—while making a genuine difference to their academic and personal development.

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
  • Lead and assist with targeted interventions to support learning, behaviour, and communication
  • Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to implement effective strategies
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Adapt resources and activities to match individual learning needs
  • Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, building confidence and independence

Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant – Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate graduate with a genuine passion for supporting young learners:

  • A minimum 2:1 degree in Psychology or a related subject
  • Strong interest in Educational Psychology, SEN teaching, or Speech & Language Therapy
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork skills
  • Patient, resilient, and proactive in supporting children with additional needs
  • Previous experience with children or young people with SEN (e.g. in schools, tutoring, care, or youth work) – desirable
  • Motivation to pursue further study or training in education, therapy, or psychology
