A highly regarded secondary school in Birmingham is seeking a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This full-time, term-time only role is a fantastic stepping stone for aspiring teachers, offering valuable classroom experience supporting Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant,you’ll work in a supportive environment that will help prepare you for teacher training in 2026 or beyond.

Key Responsibilities

As a Graduate Science Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Support teachers in delivering engaging Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support to students
• Assist with practical experiments and manage Science resources
• Help maintain positive classroom behaviour and organisation
• Encourage students’ curiosity and enthusiasm for Science
• Contribute to extracurricular STEM activities and clubs

Graduate Science Teaching Assistant – Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for ambitious graduates who have:

• A minimum 2:1 degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Natural Sciences, Engineering)
• A passion for Science and education
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, can-do attitude and a supportive approach to learning
• A genuine interest in working with young people and pursuing a teaching career
• (Beneficial) Previous experience working with young people – tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, or similar
