Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse – Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP)

Hourly Rate: £26.00 (PAYE)
Contract Type: Ongoing Locum
Hours: Full-Time or Part-Time (Core hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm)
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) to join the Early Intervention in Psychosis team based at Hexagon Tower. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference by supporting individuals aged 14 to 65 experiencing their first episode of psychosis. Job Purpose:
To deliver specialist mental health support within a recovery-focused, community-based EIP service. You will coordinate care, deliver interventions, and promote early recovery, aiming to prevent hospital admissions and improve outcomes for service users and their families.
What You Will Do:

Conduct holistic assessments of mental health, risk, and social circumstances.

Deliver CBT-based interventions, psychoeducation, and family-focused support.

Coordinate care under the Care Programme Approach (CPA), ensuring timely reviews and collaborative planning.

Administer and monitor medication in line with clinical guidelines.

Provide home visits and community-based support to service users.

Carry out risk assessments and formulate risk management plans.

Engage in safeguarding processes for both adults and young people.

Work collaboratively with professionals including psychiatrists, psychologists, OTs, and peer support workers.

Participate in case conferences, service improvement initiatives, and quality assurance activities.

Liaise with external services including schools, GPs, housing providers, and voluntary sector partners.
Person Specification:
Qualifications & Registration:

Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with valid NMC registration.

Completion of preceptorship if newly qualified.
Experience:
-
Post-registration experience in community mental health, ideally in EIP or psychosis-focused settings.
Skills & Knowledge:

Knowledge of relevant legislation (Mental Health Act, Care Act, MCA, safeguarding).

Competency in using electronic health records and writing clear, structured clinical documentation.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
