Mechanical Designer in Warrington, North West

Our Client has a requirement for a Mechanical Designer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Warrington.

Role Purpose:

We require a Mechanical Designer to support a major decommissioning project.

The project will provide a facility to receive Special Nuclear Material from existing stores and process it into a form suitable for safe and secure storage. 

The project supports the mission to make the site safer sooner by:

• Safely receiving all SNM packages from current storage locations.
• Retreating and/or repackaging those packages into 100-year certified packages.
• Transferring the 100-year packages to a long-term storage facility.
• Ensuring secure storage of all SNM into the next century and beyond.

Job Role Responsibilities:

The role includes the delivery of outstanding design work packages and support for manufacturing/testing queries and design changes, with responsibility for configuration management.

• Producing engineering design work packages (e.g., 3D models, GA, assembly and detail drawings, or design assessments), under guidance from the engineering design team, ensuring compliance with legal, functional, and performance requirements.
• Liaising with stakeholders and other disciplines (e.g., CE&I, Process, Operations, Maintenance, Human Factors, Construction, and SMEs) as required.
• Providing support to senior engineers to resolve manufacturing and testing queries, including liaison with manufacturers.
• Supporting configuration management by updating models and drawings based on:
  • • Red-line drawings,
    • Manufacturing queries (TQ/PP/CR),
    • Changes during testing (TFO, FoB).

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor.
• Experienced in Autodesk Vault Basic or Vault Pro (file management).
• Skilled in the production of detail drawings, including Bills of Materials (BoMs).
• Working knowledge of the following standards:
  • • BS 8888
    • BS EN ISO 8015
    • BS EN ISO 1101
    • BS EN ISO 5459
