Position Summary:
Reporting to the Framework Design Manager, you’ll play a key role in the design delivery of non-infrastructure wastewater projects. This hybrid role offers a mix of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility.
You’ll bring proven experience from the water sector—mechanical, electrical, ICA, or civils—within maintenance, design, or capital delivery. You're a motivated team player who thrives on solving complex problems through collaborative working and carbon-conscious design thinking.
Your expertise in design control, quality assurance, BIM (ISO 19650), and NEC4 contracts will be vital to delivering low-carbon, production-led solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and manage the design scope and deliverables.
- Review and challenge the design programme for efficiencies.
- Lead and coordinate design meetings (briefings, progress, and coordination).
- Manage design changes and control processes.
- Champion DfMA (Design for Manufacture and Assembly) and low-carbon solutions.
- Run buildability, carbon, and DfMA workshops.
- Oversee design reviews, technical assurance, and CDM compliance.
- Implement and manage project BIM strategy.
- Support the Principal Designer on the framework.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Collaborate with Design, Delivery, Commercial, and Employer Teams.
- Support procurement decisions in coordination with project stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to internal governance processes for design and delivery.
Person Specification:
- HNC/HND or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Progressing toward Chartership with a relevant institution
- Valid driving licence
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Solid technical knowledge of water/wastewater processes and assets
- Understanding of CDM 2015 Regulations
- Good commercial awareness and contract understanding
- Experienced in multidisciplinary project delivery
- Familiar with BIM (ISO 19650) and NEC4 Contracts
- Programme preparation and management experience
