What you will do:

- Provide expert independent social work advice to the Family Court in both public and private law proceedings, ensuring the child’s welfare remains paramount.
- Conduct in-depth assessments of children and families, including risk assessments and the analysis of parental capacity and child needs.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, identifying any risks of harm such as neglect, abuse, or domestic violence.
- Engage directly with children and families, capturing the child’s voice and presenting their wishes and feelings clearly in court reports.
- Prepare high-quality court reports, including Section 7 and Section 37 reports in private law, and act as a Children’s Guardian in public law cases under Section 41 of the Children Act 1989.
- Liaise effectively with professionals across agencies (e.g., local authority social workers, legal representatives, schools, health professionals) to gather and corroborate evidence.
- Represent the child’s best interests during court proceedings, including attending hearings and giving oral evidence where required.
- Maintain accurate and timely case records, in compliance with data protection legislation and CAFCASS practice expectations.
- Work independently and manage a complex caseload, ensuring all work is completed within statutory and court-mandated timescales.
- Participate in supervision, training, and professional development, ensuring practice remains current and reflective of best practice standards and legal requirements.
