Our client has a requirement for a Project Engineer / Contracts Engineer, who will be required to work on a permanent basis in Stafford, UK.


Role Purpose:

  • Support the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects at a key UK utilities site.

  • Coordinate plant design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities in line with contract schedules.

  • Assist the Senior Project Manager in managing costs, contracts, and technical delivery.

  • Ensure documentation, payments, and programme updates are submitted accurately and on time.

  • Build and maintain strong client, subcontractor, and supplier relationships throughout the project lifecycle.


Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintain project cost control, ensuring alignment with budgets and variations.

  • Ensure contract documentation, monthly forecasts, and payment applications are completed to schedule.

  • Support the development and monitoring of project programmes and reporting deliverables.

  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure coordinated and timely project delivery.

  • Contribute to O&M manual preparation and final handover documentation.

  • Support procurement processes and supply chain management.

  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and Health & Safety best practices.

  • Identify risks and opportunities and contribute to monthly project reviews.

  • Assist in producing safe and maintainable design solutions.

  • Represent the project team positively and professionally in all stakeholder communications.


Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • HNC or higher in Engineering or a related technical field (essential).

  • Engineering background with experience in water, wastewater, or utility infrastructure projects.

  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and contract administration.

  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and project Health & Safety compliance.

  • Strong procurement, subcontractor management, and cost control skills.

  • Ability to interpret and coordinate engineering drawings, schedules, and specifications.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and team collaboration skills.

  • Professional qualification (e.g., ICE, CIOB) is desirable.
