Key Responsibilities

Undertake statutory assessments under the Children Act 1989, ensuring children’s safety and well-being.

Identify and escalate safeguarding concerns, responding appropriately and promptly in partnership with relevant agencies.

Recommend and implement evidence-based interventions based on assessed needs, including early help and care proceedings.

Ensure compliance with statutory timescales and contribute to multi-agency planning processes.

Collaborate with professionals across health, education, and law enforcement to deliver integrated support.

Prepare court reports and attend hearings when required, ensuring all documentation is thorough and accurate.

Maintain up-to-date records on Wokingham’s electronic case management system in line with statutory standards.
Essential Requirements

Social Work degree or equivalent qualification.

Registration with Social Work England.

Previous experience in statutory children’s social work, preferably within assessment or safeguarding teams.

Sound knowledge of legislative frameworks, child protection thresholds, and multi-agency working.
