Key Responsibilities

• Chairing Child Protection Conferences: Lead effective, inclusive, and outcome-focused conferences that centre children’s safety and well-being.

• Plan Development: Ensure the creation of SMART, multi-agency protection plans that clearly outline actions and responsibilities.

• Review & Quality Assurance: Monitor the implementation and impact of protection plans, challenging any drift or delay.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with social workers, health and education professionals, and other stakeholders to coordinate safeguarding responses.

• Training & Guidance: Provide consultation and training to professionals on child protection procedures and safeguarding best practice.

• LADO Support: Provide cover for the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), including chairing complex meetings regarding allegations against professionals.

• Practice Leadership: Promote a strengths-based, restorative approach in all safeguarding work.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW or equivalent).

• Registered with Social Work England.

• Extensive experience in child protection, including chairing complex multi-agency meetings.

• Strong knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, statutory responsibilities, and best practices.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and critical thinking skills.
