Role Overview

Are you a seasoned Occupational Therapist with over 7 years’ experience? Join an exciting and impactful Single-Handed Care Review Project in Shropshire, working in collaboration with Shropshire Council. This locum opportunity is ideal for a driven OT looking to apply their specialist knowledge to streamline care delivery, promote independence, and reduce care dependency in the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete up to 10 assessments weekly focused on single-handed care, aimed at enhancing client independence and minimising double-handed care where possible.

• Reassess and review existing care packages, identifying equipment or adaptation needs in line with Care Act 2014 requirements.

• Prescribe and arrange specialist equipment that supports single-handed care approaches.

• Work in close collaboration with Adult Social Care teams to ensure care plans are efficient, effective, and person-centred.

• Travel across Shropshire to conduct community visits, using clinical judgement to implement safe and sustainable care solutions.

• Remain compliant with the latest Moving and Handling of Clients (MOC) exemptions across the West Midlands.

About You

• HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.

• Minimum of 7 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally including manual handling and community-based assessments.

• Strong understanding of Single-Handed Care principles, care reviews, and risk management.

• Able to work autonomously and prioritise caseload effectively.

• Must be a car driver with access to a vehicle for travel throughout Shropshire.
