A Senior Planner is required to support the construction delivery of a major defence sector project. This site-based role, reporting to the Head of Planning, will provide expert planning services and schedule management for Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) packages. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining a detailed delivery programme within the corporate Primavera P6 environment, ensuring accurate representation of project progress and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage detailed construction delivery schedules for Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) elements within the programme.

  • Interface directly with supply chain partners, conducting regular schedule reviews to ensure alignment with project objectives.

  • Facilitate interactive planning sessions with stakeholder teams to mitigate potential scheduling risks and impacts.

  • Provide accurate and consistent schedule reporting and maintain high data quality standards for upward reporting.

  • Collaborate with programme-level planners to ensure integration of M&E works with overall project milestones and plant infrastructure.

  • Apply earned value analysis (EVA) techniques to monitor and report on schedule and performance management.

  • Perform Critical Path Analysis, including evaluation of late/early starts and finishes, and identify float erosion risks.

  • Develop and assess "What-If" scenarios to explore alternative sequencing and its effects on the delivery schedule.

  • Interpret project documentation, technical drawings, and specifications to support planning accuracy and completeness.

  • Support the Programme for Acceptance process in line with NEC contract requirements.

Essential Requirements:

  • Current Security Clearance at SC level or above (mandatory).

  • Proficient in Primavera P6 within a multi-user enterprise environment.

  • Extensive experience in site-based planning for complex construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of NEC contract mechanisms, particularly programme acceptance processes.

  • Demonstrable experience with earned value analysis (EVA) and performance management techniques.

  • Ability to develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and schedules from limited or incomplete information.

  • Competence in integrating M&E infrastructure delivery with complex plant work packages to meet project objectives.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a client-facing, partner environment.

  • Skilled in challenging and interrogating contractor schedules and progress data.

  • Strong analytical skills in Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling and float analysis.

  • Experience in developing and evaluating "What-If" scenarios for schedule optimisation.

  • Ability to interpret complex project drawings and technical documentation.

Additional Information:

  • This is a construction delivery role, not a PMO role.
