About the Role – Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher
An Outstanding secondary school in Newham is seeking a driven and academically strong Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher to join their thriving Science department this September. This is a full-time position, ideal for a talented graduate looking to build hands-on experience while being supported on the path toward Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
As a Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher, you’ll start by supporting qualified teachers in delivering engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4. You’ll work with small groups, provide tailored academic interventions, and gradually take on more classroom responsibilities—laying a strong foundation for a successful teaching career.
Key Responsibilities – Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher
- Support the delivery of high-quality Science lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Deliver small group sessions and targeted interventions in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
- Assist with lesson planning, resource development, and practical lab work
- Track student progress and support with feedback under teacher supervision
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and achievement-focused classroom culture
- Inspire curiosity and a love of Science through dynamic lesson involvement
Candidate Profile – Graduate Unqualified Science Teacher
- A 2:1 or First-Class degree in a Science subject (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline)
- Strong academic record, including excellent GCSE and A-Level Science and Maths grades
- A genuine interest in teaching and a long-term ambition to become a qualified Science teacher
- Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- Confidence, resilience, and the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds
- Previous experience in mentoring, tutoring, or working with young people is beneficial but not essential
