The Role:
As Deputy Head of Science, you will:
- Lead curriculum design and delivery across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, ensuring schemes of work are engaging, ambitious, and tailored to meet all learners’ needs.
- Drive student achievement and progress by analysing assessment data, identifying gaps, and implementing targeted interventions and support strategies.
- Mentor and develop teaching staff, supporting colleagues to adopt best practice in pedagogy, behaviour management, and differentiation.
- Coordinate enrichment activities such as science clubs, STEM challenges, and community partnerships to enhance students’ experiences and promote enthusiasm for science.
- Contribute to whole-school leadership by participating in strategic planning, policy development, and cross-department initiatives aimed at raising standards school-wide.
What We’re Looking For:
- Passionate and expert Science educator with excellent subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, and experience teaching at KS3, KS4, and preferably KS5.
- Proven leadership skills, whether in a formal deputy/head of department role or through demonstrated impact in leading teams, projects, or initiatives.
- Strong data literacy and analytical skills to track student progress and drive measurable improvements in outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to motivate staff and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Resilient, adaptable, and proactive approach to problem-solving and driving change in a busy school environment.
