Job Details:
- Pay: £45,000 per annum (Bonus scheme)
- Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (08:00 – 16:30)

Job Role: The Welding Supervisor will be responsible for leading and supervising all shop floor personnel including fabricators, welders, fitters, machine operators and apprentices. You will plan and coordinate daily and weekly production schedules to ensure work orders are completed on time, prioritising jobs effectively and allocating resources to meet demand. As Welding Supervisor, you will maintain a visible presence within the workshop, monitor productivity and efficiency, challenge underperformance, and drive continuous improvement to increase output and reduce waste.
Duties will include reading and interpreting engineering drawings, welding procedures and bills of materials, ensuring quality standards are consistently met, managing non-conformances and rework, and enforcing health & safety procedures including tool-box talks, risk assessments and COSHH compliance. You will also oversee equipment maintenance, control stock and consumables, manage production records, liaise with management to ensure on-time delivery, and support the recruitment, mentoring and development of staff and apprentices.
Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:
- To be considered for this Welding Supervisor role, you must have proven experience (5+ years) within steel fabrication or metalworks, along with previous supervisory experience. The Welding Supervisor must hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Welding, Fabrication or a related discipline, alongside relevant safety and welding certifications (forklift or lifting licence where required).
- Strong working knowledge of welding processes including SMAW, GMAW (MIG), FCAW and TIG, and familiarity with common workshop machinery such as press brakes, shears and CNC plasma/oxy cutters.
- Strong leadership, communication, planning and problem-solving skills, with the ability to accurately read technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Basic IT skills including MS Office; AutoCAD experience would be advantageous.
