The Westway Trust is a unique charity rooted in North Kensington. We are looking for an After-school Teacher to support children from the Traveller community through high-quality, engaging learning.
The role
This is a part-time, term-time position delivering after-school teaching to children up to age 8. You will focus on improving attainment in reading, writing and spelling, working mostly one-to-one with some small group sessions.
You will play a key role in supporting children’s progress while helping to shape and grow this provision in line with community needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging out-of-school teaching across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
- Support children’s learning using a range of approaches, including ICT
- Work closely with the Traveller Teacher/mentor to share progress and plan support
- Keep accurate records of sessions and children’s development
- Provide clear feedback on progress where needed
- Build positive relationships with families to support learning at home
- Set up and clear down teaching spaces
- Follow safeguarding policies at all times

The person
You will be a qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with experience across early years or primary education.
You should also have:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An understanding of safeguarding practices
- Experience supporting children with additional needs
- Confidence using ICT to support learning
- The ability to keep clear and accurate records
- A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Experience working with Traveller communities is welcome but not essential.
