What you will do:

• Undertake specialist assessments of individuals presenting with drug and alcohol dependency and formulate appropriate treatment plans.
• Independently prescribe and review medications in line with your professional registration, clinical guidelines, and local protocols.
• Manage opioid substitution therapy programmes, alcohol detoxification pathways, and relapse prevention interventions.
• Monitor treatment effectiveness, medication compliance, and potential adverse effects, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
• Complete risk assessments relating to overdose, self-harm, safeguarding, exploitation, and complex vulnerabilities.

Qualifications Needed:

• Possess a Registered Nurse, Pharmacist, or Allied Health Professional qualification.
• Hold an Independent Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification (V300 or equivalent).
• Maintain current professional registration with the NMC, GPhC, or HCPC as applicable.
• Have an Independent Prescriber annotation on your professional registration.

Experience:

• Previous experience as a Non-Medical Prescriber within substance misuse, drug and alcohol, recovery, or community health services.
• Experience prescribing methadone, buprenorphine, and other evidence-based pharmacological treatments.
• Strong understanding of harm reduction, recovery pathways, and safeguarding practices.
