What you will do

• Safeguarding Practice: Receive, screen, and assess referrals relating to children and young people, ensuring timely and appropriate safeguarding responses.
• Complex Assessments: Undertake and oversee complex assessments, determining risk levels and appropriate interventions.
• Professional Leadership: Provide mentoring, guidance, and support to social workers, newly qualified practitioners, and students.
• Case Oversight: Manage and oversee a small caseload of complex safeguarding cases requiring advanced professional judgement.
• Decision Making: Support the Team Manager with case decisions, risk analysis, and safeguarding strategies.
• Multi-Agency Working: Work closely with police, health services, education providers, and other partners to share information and coordinate interventions.
• Legal Processes: Prepare reports, statements, and documentation for court proceedings, strategy meetings, and multi-agency forums.
• Quality Assurance: Undertake audits, provide constructive feedback, and support continuous service improvement activities.
• Service Development: Contribute to the development of MASH procedures, policies, and implementation of legislative changes.
• Performance Management: Support service performance, ensuring statutory timescales and quality standards are consistently achieved.
• Equality and Inclusion: Promote anti-discriminatory practice, equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout all aspects of service delivery.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Social Work Qualification: Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Registration: Current Social Work England registration.
• Experience: Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care and safeguarding services.
• MASH Experience: Previous experience within a MASH, Front Door, Assessment, or Safeguarding Team is highly desirable.
• Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and relevant safeguarding legislation.
• Leadership Skills: Experience supporting, mentoring, and guiding colleagues within a social work environment.
• Assessment Skills: Proven ability to complete complex assessments and make robust safeguarding decisions.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and report-writing abilities.
• Multi-Agency Working: Demonstrable experience working effectively with a range of partner agencies and stakeholders.
