What you will do
• Practice Leadership: Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional guidance to social workers and newly qualified practitioners.
• Case Management: Manage a reduced caseload of highly complex children and family cases, ensuring high-quality interventions and outcomes.
• Assessment and Planning: Complete statutory assessments, develop care plans, and oversee the implementation of effective support strategies.
• Safeguarding: Lead safeguarding interventions, assess risk, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct audits, review practice standards, and provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
• Partnership Working: Build strong working relationships with health professionals, schools, police, and partner agencies.
• Representation: Represent the local authority at strategy meetings, conferences, and multi-agency forums.
• Court Work: Prepare detailed court reports, statements, and assessments, providing expert evidence where required.
• Service Improvement: Contribute to the development of best practice and support wider service improvement initiatives.
Qualifications / Requirements
• Social Work Qualification: Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Registration: Current Social Work England registration.
• Experience: Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care, including safeguarding and child protection.
• Leadership Skills: Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising social work practitioners.
• Court Experience: Strong knowledge of care proceedings and experience preparing court documentation.
• Legislative Knowledge: Thorough understanding of child protection legislation, safeguarding procedures, and statutory frameworks.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and report-writing abilities.
• Decision-Making Skills: Proven ability to make sound professional judgements in complex situations.
