What you will do:

• Undertake assessments to determine the viability of kinship arrangements, as well as conducting Special Guardianship assessments for relatives and connections who aim to care for children.
• Prepare high-calibre court reports, Special Guardianship reports, and permanent assessments, ensuring these meet statutory timelines.
• Offer advice, guidance, and continuous support to kinship carers and Special Guardians, assisting with support planning and review processes.
• Contribute to permanence planning, promoting secure family-based care arrangements for children where suitable.
• Assess risk and conduct safeguarding interventions to protect children from harm and to promote their welfare.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

• A recognised Social Work qualification such as a Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, or equivalently recognised credentials.
• Demonstrated continuous professional development, especially in the fields of Children's Social Care and Permanence Services.

Registration and Compliance:

• Current registration with Social Work England is required.

Experience:

• Proven post-qualification experience in Children's Social Care, specifically with Kinship Care, Fostering, Looked After Children, or Permanence Services.
• Experience in conducting Special Guardianship and connected persons assessments.
• Experience preparing reports for court proceedings.
