This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join the Children in Care Team in Walsall. You will work with looked‑after children and care leavers, ensuring their needs are met through high‑quality statutory social work practice and effective care planning.
What you will do
- Manage a varied caseload of Looked After Children, ensuring statutory duties are met at all times.
- Complete care planning, pathway planning, and permanency planning to promote stability and positive outcomes.
- Undertake statutory visits and reviews, maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
- Work collaboratively with carers, families, and partner agencies to support each child’s development and wellbeing.
- Prepare high‑quality court reports and contribute to legal proceedings where required.
- Advocate for children’s health, education, and emotional wellbeing.
- Ensure the child’s voice, wishes, and feelings are central to all assessments and plans.
- Support older children and care leavers as they transition toward independence.
Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Experience working with Children in Care within a statutory children’s social care setting.
- Strong assessment, planning, and report‑writing skills.
- Ability to manage complex cases and work effectively with partner agencies.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting care leavers and undertaking pathway planning.
- Familiarity with local authority case management systems.
