What you will do

  • Act as the lead for social care within SEND services, ensuring effective integration with education and health.

  • Oversee and contribute to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs) and EHCP development.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to practitioners on SEND legislation and social care responsibilities.

  • Ensure compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice.

  • Work collaboratively with schools, health services, families, and partner agencies.

  • Contribute to service development, quality assurance, and improvement plans.

Person Specification
Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent) or relevant professional qualification.

  • Evidence of continued professional development.

Registration & Compliance

  • Registered with Social Work England (or relevant professional body).

  • Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice (0–25 years), and Children Act 1989.

  • Enhanced DBS clearance.

Key Skills

  • Strong knowledge of SEND processes and legislation.

  • Ability to influence and lead across multi-agency services.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Ability to drive service improvement and ensure compliance.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Experience

  • Experience within Children’s Social Care or SEND services.

  • Experience contributing to EHCP processes and multi-agency working.

  • Experience in a leadership, advisory, or specialist role (desirable).

  • Experience in service development or quality assurance (desirable).
