Social Worker – Children in Care Team

What You Will Do

Manage a caseload of children and young people who are looked after, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.

Undertake regular statutory visits, assessments, and reviews to promote safety and positive outcomes.

Develop, implement, and review care plans in line with legislation and best practice.

Lead and contribute to permanence planning, including long-term fostering, adoption, or other permanence options.

Ensure the child’s voice, wishes, and lived experience are central to all decision-making.

Work collaboratively with foster carers, residential staff, education providers, health professionals, and other partner agencies.

Identify and manage safeguarding risks, preparing high-quality reports for reviews, meetings, and court proceedings.

Attend and contribute to statutory meetings such as Looked After Reviews, care planning meetings, and legal proceedings.

Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with council policies and statutory requirements.

Engage in supervision, reflective practice, and continuous professional development.
