A hands-on Senior Sous Chef role in a busy, high-quality Chelsea gastropub cooking seasonal British food from scratch.

A chef-led London hospitality group is looking for a Senior Sous Chef to join its busiest site, a premium gastropub in Chelsea. The pub runs a relaxed bar alongside a more formal dining room with table service, plus private dining and events.

The food is seasonal and British, cooked from scratch with whole animals, whole fish and produce from small farms and trusted suppliers. The menu changes daily with the seasons and the kitchen team are free to shape dishes. The kitchen is compact and very efficient, so the Senior Sous Chef needs to be outstanding on prep and organisation.

The Senior Sous Chef role

• Run the pass and lead shifts, deputising for the Head Chef.
• Plan and organise prep for a compact, high-output kitchen.
• Cook seasonal British dishes from scratch, including butchery of meat and fish.
• Help develop daily menu changes and specials with the Head Chef.
• Deliver bar, dining room, events and a busy Sunday roast service.
• Train and support a small team of chefs and kitchen porters.
• Keep food safety, ordering and stock control spot on.

About you

• A Senior Sous Chef or strong Sous Chef from a quality gastropub or fresh-food restaurant.
• Excellent prep skills and organisation in a small kitchen.
• A real understanding of seasonality and British produce.
• Confident with butchery and whole-animal cooking.
• Calm, efficient and consistent at high volume.
• Ambitious to grow towards a Head Chef role within a growing group.
