What You Will Do:

  • Manage a varied caseload of looked after children, ensuring care plans are proactively implemented and regularly reviewed.

  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with children, young people, and carers to promote positive outcomes.

  • Conduct thorough assessments, care planning, and statutory visits in accordance with legal and policy frameworks.

  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports for Looked After Reviews and court proceedings.

  • Lead on permanency planning, including adoption, special guardianship, and reunification cases.

  • Provide advice, guidance, and emotional support to foster carers and residential staff.

  • Chair and coordinate multi-agency meetings to ensure joined-up care delivery.

  • Mentor and support newly qualified social workers and students, fostering professional growth within the team.

  • Contribute specialist knowledge in areas such as permanence, health, or participation.

  • Work collaboratively with professionals across health, education, and voluntary sectors to meet children’s holistic needs.

  • Maintain accurate, high-quality, and timely digital case records.

  • Advocate for children’s rights and ensure their voices are heard in all decision-making processes.
