What you will do:
- Provide services that align with statutory requirements and department priorities.

- Plan and manage individual client cases according to professional standards.
- Implement the Council’s equal opportunities policies within professional practice.
- Make professional decisions within departmental frameworks, consulting with management when necessary.
- Familiarise yourself with departmental policies and procedures.

Specialist Child Care Duties:
- Deliver preventative and rehabilitative services in line with the Children’s Act.
- Assess situations where children require protection or care.
- Plan effectively, involving carers as partners in decision-making.
- Work towards keeping children with their families wherever feasible.
- Offer emergency services for high-risk children.
- Collaborate with various department sections and agencies to promote best childcare practices.
- Participate in training to maintain high standards of work.

Child Care Senior Social Worker Duties:
- Conduct in-depth risk assessments and manage complex caseloads, including court work.
- Handle cases for absent colleagues when necessary.
- Chair meetings under the guidance of the team manager.
- Supervise students and facilitate local inductions for new staff.
- Update specialist knowledge to develop practice standards.
- Represent the department in multi-agency settings.
- Contribute to local and departmental training.
- Supervise Family Support Workers when qualified.
- Draw up the duty rota.
