Position: Senior Buyer (Permanent Staff)
Locations:
- Northwest: Kendal (Cumbria), Preston (Lancashire)
- Southwest: Devonport (Devon), Exeter (Devon)
Work Schedule: 3–4 days on site/office, 1–2 days hybrid

About the Role
We’re looking for procurement professionals with subcontract and materials buying experience to join as Senior Buyer staff.
The client is open to Buyers looking to step up to a Senior Buyer role, or experienced Senior Buyers. You will lead procurement across high-profile projects, working closely with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to deliver value, efficiency, and compliance. This is a permanent staff role with flexible working and a competitive salary plus car allowance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop bid lists, perform due diligence, and manage procurement strategies
- Collate and review subcontract and material quotations
- Lead supplier/subcontractor negotiations and chair Pre-let Meetings
- Onboard new suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct audits, and implement frameworks
- Build strategic supplier relationships and gather market intelligence
- Support and mentor junior Buyers
Who We’re Looking For
- Experienced in subcontract and materials buying
- Minimum 3 years’ procurement experience in construction/civil engineering
- CIPS qualified or working towards it
- Strong negotiation, commercial, and analytical skills
- Flexible, adaptable, and confident working in office and site environments
