An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Work professional to join Cheshire West & Chester Council as a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO). In this influential role, you will oversee the management of allegations made against professionals and volunteers working with children, providing expert safeguarding advice, chairing multi-agency strategy meetings, and ensuring swift, secure responses that keep children and young people safe. With a desirable location at The Portal in Ellesmere Port, this contract offers a dynamic 3-month placement with a precisely designed 37-hour work week, ensuring you finish by 16:30 on Fridays.

What you will do

• Lead the management and oversight of allegations involving professionals and volunteers working with children, ensuring best practices in safeguarding.
• Chair and manage multi-agency strategy meetings, guiding discussions to effectively manage risk and develop safeguarding solutions.
• Provide expert safeguarding advice to partners and teams, ensuring adherence to safeguarding legislation and safer recruitment practices.
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships, confidently communicating and influencing various stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
• Handle complex cases with a strategic approach to ensure the protection and safety of children and young people.

About You

• Qualified Social Worker with registration under Social Work England.
• Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience in children's safeguarding and child protection.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, allegations management, and safer recruitment.
• Experienced in managing risk and confidently leading complex multi-agency meetings.
• A talented communicator who can effectively influence, challenge, and build solid partnerships.
