An opportunity to work within a large, safety‑critical and fast‑paced environment that underpins vital national activity, this organisation places health and safety at the heart of everything it does. With complex operations, diverse stakeholders and constant change, there is a strong focus on proactive risk management and continuous improvement. To support this, a Health & Safety Business Partner is being appointed on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract, working closely with leaders and operational teams to provide expert, practical advice and strengthen a positive safety culture.
The Health & Safety Business Partner (6 month FTC) will be responsible for:
- Providing expert, proactive health and safety advice and leadership across operational and functional areas, supporting the achievement of Zero Harm and promoting a strong, positive safety culture.
- Partnering with leadership and stakeholders to developing, implementing and assuring effective health and safety strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, legal compliance and best practice.
- Leading health and safety governance, compliance and assurance activities, including incident investigation, risk assessment, audits, contractor management and regulatory engagement.
- Driving continuous improvement through data‑led insight, effective communication, training and the integration of safety‑by‑design principles into operational activities, projects and organisational change.
The Health & Safety Business Partner (6 month FTC) will be have:
- NEBOSH General Certificate, in‑depth knowledge of UK H&S legislation and ISO 45001, and proven experience operating within high‑risk, operational environments.
- Well‑developed influencing and advisory skills, with the ability to engage and challenge leaders and teams, deliver effective training and communications, lead audits and investigations, and positively shape safety culture.
- Robust operational and delivery skills, including contractor and permit‑to‑work management, risk assessment and control, incident investigation, and the application of continuous improvement techniques across complex, multi‑activity sites.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational and resilience skills, enabling effective collaboration across functions, clear and confident communication with internal and external stakeholders, sound reporting, and calm, pragmatic decision‑making under pressure.
