Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant

KPI is working with a Wembley-based primary school to appoint a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS1 and KS2. The school will consider your academic background, experience and individual strengths when deciding the most suitable placement.

We are particularly interested in Russell Group graduates with a First-Class or 2:1 degree. Psychology, education studies and other relevant degrees are especially desirable. Previous tutoring, mentoring or primary/secondary school experience is highly valued.

The Role

As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils academically, socially and pastorally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across KS1 and KS2
  • Working with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
  • Delivering targeted interventions in English and mathematics
  • Supporting reading, writing, vocabulary and numeracy development
  • Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Applying knowledge of psychology, education or child development
  • Preparing resources and assisting with lesson organisation
  • Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and independence
  • Monitoring pupil progress and sharing observations with teachers
  • Supporting enrichment activities, trips and wider school life
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a First-Class or 2:1 degree, ideally from a Russell Group university
  • Ideally hold a degree in psychology, education studies or a related subject
  • Have previous primary/secondary school, tutoring or mentoring experience
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be confident, patient, empathetic and enthusiastic
  • Be organised, proactive and reliable
  • Work effectively as part of a team
  • Have a genuine interest in children's learning and development
  • Be interested in teacher training, educational psychology, SEND or a related career
  • Be committed to safeguarding and pupil welfare
  • Be available full-time for a long-term position
