Looking to Turn Your Degree Into a Career Working With Children?

Have you recently graduated and are considering a career in primary education?

If you're looking to gain valuable school-based experience before taking your next step, this Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant opportunity in Crewe (CW1 6FX) could be the perfect starting point.

A friendly and supportive primary school in Crewe (CW1 6FX) is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and reliable Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.

This role is ideal for graduates who want to discover what it's really like to work in a primary school. You'll spend your days supporting pupils, working alongside experienced teachers and helping children overcome challenges, build confidence and achieve their potential.

Your degree subject doesn't matter — graduates from all disciplines are welcome to apply. Whether you've studied Psychology, Sport, English, History, Business, Science, Languages or something completely different, we'd be keen to hear from you.

We also welcome graduates with a First Class, 2:1 or 2:2 degree.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This isn't simply a classroom support role. It's an opportunity to gain practical experience that could help shape your future career in education.

You'll benefit from:

  • Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

  • Term-time only

  • £500–£560 per week (£100–£115 per day)

  • A long-term opportunity within a supportive primary school

  • Guidance and mentoring from experienced teachers

  • Practical experience working with primary-aged children

  • Opportunities to support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs

  • The opportunity to observe different teaching approaches in practice

  • Valuable experience for future PGCE, SCITT, School Direct and other teacher training applications

  • A supportive team environment where you can develop professionally

  • A convenient Crewe (CW1 6FX) location

Your Role in the Classroom

Every day will be different. You'll become an important member of the school team, helping teachers provide the support pupils need to succeed.

You could be involved in:

  • Supporting learning activities across the primary curriculum

  • Working with individual pupils who need additional encouragement or support

  • Running or assisting with small-group interventions

  • Helping children with reading, writing, maths and wider learning

  • Supporting pupils with SEND and adapting activities to meet their individual needs

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping children develop independence

  • Providing reassurance and encouragement to pupils who lack confidence

  • Preparing classroom materials and assisting teachers with daily activities

  • Helping maintain an organised, positive and engaging classroom environment

  • Developing strong relationships with pupils and becoming a trusted member of the school team

Could You Be the Right Fit?

We're looking for graduates who are enthusiastic, reliable and genuinely interested in working with children.

You don't need to have studied Education or have previous classroom experience.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A First Class, 2:1 or 2:2 degree

  • A degree in any subject

  • A genuine interest in working with primary-aged children

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Patience, enthusiasm and a positive attitude

  • The ability to build rapport and positive relationships with children

  • A willingness to take advice and learn from experienced teachers

  • The confidence to get involved and contribute to the school community

  • The ambition to develop a career in education

  • The right to work in the UK on a full-time basis

Previous experience working with children is welcomed but is not essential.

What matters most is your attitude, reliability, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.

Gain Experience. Build Confidence. Start Your Career.

For many graduates, getting into education can be challenging without previous classroom experience. This role gives you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop your confidence and discover whether a career in primary education is right for you.
